Roy Paul

Roy Paul is arguably one of Manchester City’s greatest ever players. He was a rock in the heart of City’s defence during the 1950’s and was capped on over 30 occasions for Wales. He skippered Manchester City during their triumph of winning the FA Cup final in 1955. He made over 200 appearances for Manchester city as their captain. He is also considered to be one of Wales’s best ever players. Paul terminated his career playing for Worcester and Garw Athletic.

 

Bert Trautmann

Trautmann signed for Manchester City in 1949 and is now considered one of the greatest ever goal keepers to have played in the English football league. After a difficult start at the club, he soon established himself as one of the world’s best goalkeepers. He was outstanding during the 1956 FA Cup Final in goal as he stayed on the field after seriously injuring his neck. He went on to play a total of 545 matches for the club. In 1956, he won the ‘FWA footballer of the year award.’ In total his career at Manchester City spanned for fifteen years.
